Himeji

Famous for the Himeji Castle, largest castle in Japan.

The castle survived the WW2 fire bombings and the earthquake in 1995. With the abolishment of the feudal system in Japan, the castle was sold and and scheduled for the destruction during the shogunate, but the cost of demolition was too big and it was left intact.
